Kansas to NJ, Part 1

It took several weeks of paperwork and planning, but several weeks ago I was finally able to return to Kansas to pick up my plane.

Together at last!

After sorting out the final details, we immediately started heading east.

The scenery over Missouri was very exciting.

We made it as far as Warrensburg, Missouri on the first day.

And spent about half of the second day there too, waiting for the fog to burn off.

But we finally got in the air.

And crossed the Mississippi River!

The weather did not cooperate for very long, though.

After a while we had to start dodging small thunderstorms.

Like that one, sitting just north of our destination.

Sigh.

But success! We spent the second night in Mattoon, Illinois.

Which did not seem to be a very popular destination, judging by the utter lack of other airplanes.
