Adventures in Iceland! Day Three

It was too cloudy for the Northern Lights Tour Wednesday night, so we actually got a decent night's sleep. Since we had a few hours before we had to head back to the airport, we decided to check out a nearby beach. I'm guessing that the signs mean do not climb on the rocks, though Mark suggested that maybe they meant do not artfully arrange the rocks.

Some Icelandic graffiti: "Why are plastic stones on the beach?" :)

From the beach we hiked up to an observation point across the street from our hotel.

There was a great view of the city.

You could see Hallgrimskirkja, the tallest church in Iceland.

Our hotel! You can see the runways in the back.

We had a little extra time, so we walked into downtown Reykjavik.

That's certainly one of the tallest churches I've seen! For 500 kronur they let you go to the observation tower at the top.

The views were fantastic...Reykjavik is such a pretty city. :)

All too soon, it was time to head to the airport.

Goodbye, Iceland...we'll be back soon! :)

A couple hours into the flight I heard the person behind me taking pictures. I looked out the window and realized we were flying over Greenland!

Goodbye, Greenland...maybe someday? :)
