Zach Visits. Finally!

My brother, Zach, was originally supposed to visit in January. It snowed two feet. We rescheduled for April. Dad wound up in the hospital. Turns out third time's the charm and May worked!

We had great weather the day he got to our house, so Mark grilled some steaks and we ate outside.

We made good use of the fire bowl, too, and had some drinks and marshmallows.

The weather was kind of crummy the next day so we couldn't fly like we'd hoped. We had a lazy morning at home, then made our way down to Gordonsville for some tasty BBQ.

It took me forever to decide what to get...it was all really good! We took Zach for a tasting at Barboursville Vineyards, too. They have a bunch of wines so it took a while, but it was still fun.

Still no flying the next day, but it was a good day for the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum up at Dulles.

The Space Shuttle is one of my favorite parts. It's HUGE. And it hangs over the metal barricade a bit, so you can stand under it.

I like all the little satellites hanging from the ceiling, too.

One of the coolest things, though, is the restoration area. They have some really cool stuff that they're working on. I'd love to get into something like that someday!

We randomly happened to see Sean Tucker there, too! He was filming something near one of the displays. I would have said hi but I didn't want to interrupt anything. Little do all of the people know how close they were to one of the best aerobatic pilots in the world!

The museum was kind of packed with school groups, so we eventually started losing our patience and went to lunch instead.

I forget the name of the restaurant, but I think it's owned by one of the Voltaggios from Top Chef. It was really tasty, plus we were the only ones there since it was the middle of the afternoon, so we got to sit right near the kitchen and watch, which was pretty cool.

We finally did get to go flying the next day, though of course I forgot to take pictures. We just went up for a short local flight, but it was still fun. Zach went home after that and Mark and I went back to work. It would have been nice to have a longer visit and do more things, but after rescheduling so many times, it was nice to have a visit at all!   :)
