September 22nd: Some Exploring and Some Beach

Apparently I should have stopped one or two drinks earlier than I did the night before...man, was it hard to get out of bed the next morning. Oops. I eventually dragged myself out of bed and went upstairs, where Mark was already up. (You know it's bad if he beats me out of bed!)

I hung out on the deck for a while as the coffee slowly kicked in. Definitely won't be drinking that many drinks again anytime soon...nope.

I did eventually start to feel like a functional human being again, so we biked down to the airport so I could check on my plane. We got there just as a King Air was taxiing out, which was neat. He probably used every inch of the runway, but we did eventually see him climbing up above the sand dunes as they departed.

It was pretty close to lunch time by the time we finished up at the airport, so we biked over to Frisco Sandwich. I had the fish tacos, which were really good. They even had the good bottles of soda! We stopped in a couple nearby shops after lunch, then biked the mile or so back to the house.

After hanging out at the house for a little while, we went down to the beach and set up our spot for the afternoon.

Not bad.   :)

Once we got set up, Mark went back to the house and brought the dogs down. We took them for another long walk down the beach. Those ladies in the background loved the dogs; we walked past them almost every day we were there, and each time we would stop so they could pet the dogs for a few minutes. Giz especially liked it.   :)

We walked along the edge of the water for a while longer...

...before eventually turning around to walk back.

Bacon had fun poking around in the sand after we got back to the towels.

She also guarded our spot while Mark took a break to go swimming. We hung out for a little while longer before packing up and heading back to the house.

This was the view from the deck facing the Pamlico Sound. The road that runs through the middle is NC 12; that's the main road down through the Outer Banks.

After getting cleaned up, we drove down to the Sand Bar & Grille for dinner. We had to wait a little while for our table, but that gave us plenty of time to enjoy the sunset from their deck.

Mmm, fiiiiish. I love seafood. Everything was really good; I somehow managed to finish the entire thing, plus an appetizer, plus a salad!

The moon looked really neat when we got back to the house. We spent the rest of the night playing Yahtzee, then eventually went to bed.
