July 10th: Lots and Lots of Beaches

We had a bit of a slow start the next morning (surprise, surprise), but we eventually dragged ourselves out of bed and got moving.

We started by walking down to Island Cuisine, where I got a giant plate of delicious brown food. I think the round things were fish cakes. I ate most of my breakfast while Mark picked at his. (Turned out he'd had too many drinks in his drink the night before...oops.)

We walked back to the room and packed up our beach stuff. Our hosts had outlined a way to walk down to the beach, so we wanted to try it out. We tried to follow their directions, but without a machete to get through one section of trees it was basically impossible. We modified their directions a bit, and after a fair bit of wandering, eventually made our way to...

...the Railway Trail. Finally, back on track!

We followed the Railway Trail until we reached the Tribe Road...

...which got more and more narrow as we went along. It was worth it, though, because after a few more minutes, we popped out of the brush and found ourselves at...

...Warwick Long Bay. We made it! We set up our towels and sat down to enjoy the sunny day.

We hung out for a while, going in the water and sunning ourselves on our towels, before eventually packing up our things and moving on. Time to go beach hopping!

There was a path that went on for a while and led to a number of small pretty beaches. We followed it to see what we could find.

These pretty flowering vines were all over the side of the trail.

We followed the path for a while, stopping at each beach we found.

I especially liked the hole in this big rock.   :)

We eventually wound up at Horseshoe Bay Beach. It was pretty packed since it was early afternoon on a gorgeous day, so we backtracked a little bit and set up camp at...

...Butts Beach. (Which might be my favorite beach name hahaha.)

We even lucked out and found a shady spot under one of the big rocks. We set up our towels there, and Mark went swimming for a bit while I read a book and enjoyed the view.

We got hungry after a while, so we walked over to the Rum Bum Beach Bar at Horseshoe Bay and grabbed lunch there. This might be the most perfect hamburger bun I've ever seen in person.

We also grabbed a drink and watched part of the World Cup.

We made our way back down to the beach after lunch, and spent a while longer hanging out and enjoying the weather.

We made a stop off to the side to check out the giant fish again, too.

I wish I'd brought my GoPro with me so I could have grabbed some pictures of the fish; they were huge and would swim right past you.

We hung out a while longer, trying to make the most of our last full day in Bermuda...

...until a bunch of people started setting up volleyball nets off to the side. We took that as our cue to pack up and head out.

It took foreeeeever for the bus to come. I passed the time by watching this neat lizard climbing around on the rocks. The bus eventually came, we went back to the Airbnb and got cleaned up, and Mark called us a cab so we could grab some dinner.

We figured we should make the most of our last night of the trip, so we went to The Waterlot for a fancy dinner. Everything was really tasty, so it was a good choice! We hung out for a little while before grabbing a cab back to the room and packing a bit and heading to bed. It had been a really nice beach day!
