September 23rd, Part Two: Lazy Beach Afternoon

Mark may have decided to stop fishing, but there was still plenty of day left! We went back to the house for a little while for some snacks, took a short trip into town to grab a few things, then came back.

I went back to the beach...

...and a few minutes later, Mark came back down with the dogs. Wembles seems to make a pretty good beach bum.

We hung out at the towels for a little while, then took the doggies for a walk down the beach.

The waves were still pretty impressive, and even though it was a perfect beach day, nobody went in much past their knees.

I especially liked this picture of Bacon.   :)

After taking a walk, we taught Wembles how to dig. She loved it, though in hindsight, we probably should have taught her 'dig' a little further away from all of the beach towels. Oops.

She spent a while digging out a big hole in the sand...

...then plopped her butt down in it.  :)

We spent most of the afternoon hanging out right here...aside from the rough waves, it was perfect beach weather.

We eventually packed up and went back to the house, where we hung out on the deck with some wine. After a little while, the clouds started to look pretty cool, so I grabbed my camera and walked down to the beach to check out the sunset.

It was pretty nice.   :)

It was really cool to look the other way, too; you could see rays stretching across the sky.

I decided to hang out for a while and catch the full sunset.

There were lots of little crabs running around on the sand as it started to get darker.

After a little while, it seemed like the sunset was just about over...

...but then a few of the clouds started to turn bright pink.

I'm definitely glad I stayed out there!

This was the view of the sound from the house right before it got dark. I thought it was neat how the power lines seemed to frame the different sections of color.

Zach had run into town and grabbed some pizza for dinner, so we had a couple drinks, played some more Yahtzee, and spent a little time packing. Time to head north in the morning!
