More Visitors!

Back in October, Mark's parents and Granny came to visit for a few days. (We had a ridiculously busy October this year!) They got to our house fairly late that Monday night, so we hung out for a little while, had a couple drinks, then went to bed.

Mark made us some Norwegian waffles for breakfast the next morning. They were gooood.  :)   We hemmed and hawed for a little while about what to do, and eventually settled on a short trip to Lake Anna.

Lake Anna is a man made lake about an hour south of us. Mark and I have gone kayaking here a few times (he especially likes it and goes alone sometimes if I'm busy). It was pretty quiet since it was in the off season, but there were still a few people on the beach.

Granny brought a book to read while the rest of us went for a short hike. Mark's mom got Granny settled on a nearby bench, and the rest of us poked around one of the docks for a few minutes.

I don't know how I wound up with a rainbow on there.   :)

We decided on a short walk that followed the edge of the water. The fall colors were really pretty.

We eventually wrapped up our walk, made our way back to Granny, and...

...drove up to Old Town Culpeper, where we grabbed a late lunch and spent a couple hours wandering through the different shops before heading back to our house to hang out.

Mark's dad is really good at pool, and at one point, Granny said, "how do you play the game with the balls?". After we finished laughing, we taught her how to play and she played a few rounds with us. We all wound up staying up a LOT later than we meant to and eventually wandered off to bed. Oops.

We were all moving pretty slow the next morning, so we had a lazy breakfast and hung out on the front porch for a while. Mark, his dad, and I took the dogs for a short walk around the neighborhood for a bit.

We did eventually drag ourselves out of the house, and went to Old Town Warrenton for lunch and a little shopping. The pizza was delicious and I found a super soft throw blanket. We went back to our house after a while, hung out for a bit, and Mark's family hit the road after rush hour died down a bit in the evening. It was a nice low key visit, and it was nice to see them again!
